For Chinese 3-needle technique, the answer would be SP2 (Mother point on the affected channel), HT8 (Natural point on the Mother channel), and ST41 (Mother point of the interiorly-exteriorly related organ).
For Korean 4-needle technique, the answer would be SP2, HT8, SP1 (Sedate father on affected channel), and LV1 (Sedate Natural point on the father channel).
That being said, your options for answers were:
1. SP3 & HT7
2. LI11 & ST36
3. SP1 & HT9
4. SP6 & ST36
SP3 is the Earth point on the Earth channel (Horary), and Stream on a Yin channel is also Source. This tonifies Earth.
HT7 is the Earth point on the Fire channel (Mother), and Stream on a Yin channel is also Source. This tonifies the Mother of Earth.
Overall, while the answer doesn’t fit into our usual 3-needle and 4-needle containers, we can make some sense of why these points were chosen – we are tonifying the Mother and the affected/Son.
