This is a good question and could be a personal choice. Is there a certain topic or area of herbal medicine that you are more interested in?
If you’d like a general overview type book to start with, I would recommend: ‘Green Pharmacy: A History of Herbal Medicine’ by Barbara Briggs. For preparations in herbal medicine: ‘The Herbal Medicine-Maker’s handbook: A Home Manual’ by James Green
I also personally love ‘Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer as well.
It is hard to choose, there are so many good books, but those are two first ones are solid starters and you can build on the books you get/read as you go through the course and become more specifically interested.
